What Tripura spent on fisheries last year, and who got it

₹8,139.77 lakh went out under PMMSY in 2024–25, reaching 18,912 farmers and stakeholders. If you are farming fish in Tripura and have never applied for anything, this is the number to read twice.

What it means

Reading this as a fish farmer.

Eighteen thousand nine hundred and twelve people received support in a single financial year. That is not a token programme, and the most common reason a farmer is not among them is simply not having applied.

The two schemes worth knowing by name are the central Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana and the state’s Mukhyamantri Matsya Bikash Yojana. Between them they have funded ponds, hatcheries, cage culture units and biofloc systems. Your district fisheries office is where you find out what is open this year and what documents it needs.

We have no part in any of this and nothing to gain from it — we do not process applications and we are not agents for any scheme. It is on this page because a farmer who gets a pond funded is a farmer with a pond, and that matters more to your season than anything in our range does.

Why we run this page

A feed company writing about its own feed is worth exactly what you would expect. What we can usefully do is read what gets published about this sector and say what it means for a pond in Tripura or Assam, with the source named so you can disagree with us.

We do not reproduce anyone's reporting here and we do not pretend their work is ours. The figures are theirs and credited; the opinion about what it means for your season is ours, and you should weigh it knowing we sell feed.
